It's OK to Go at Your Own Pace

It’s been a while since I’ve written, and I wanted to check in and see how you are in this new year. As much as I can, I like to preserve this early time in the year for quiet reflection, and in doing that lately, I find myself thinking about how somehow it’s been a little over five years since I opened HeartSpace Wellness Studio.
Working as an art therapist in private practice has taught me many things, but perhaps one of the most important is that it is ok to go at your own pace. In fact, it’s essential to go at your own pace. And practicing meditation, yoga, and art therapy throughout those years has shown me that it’s ok for your pace to change depending on the seasons.
It's ok to go at your own pace... And it’s ok for your pace to change depending on the seasons.
There may be seasons that call for a slower pace to allow for rest and reflection and learning. Author Katherine May calls these moments in our lives Winterings—times where challenges may present themselves (like ice storms! or ongoing illness), and we need to pause and hibernate to give ourselves the strength and energy to eventually see it through.
And there may be seasons when we’re ready to step out of our winters and into the light, bringing with us what we’ve learned for new beginnings.
Wherever you are in your own personal seasons, HeartSpace is here for you. Here to help you winter when you need to, here to help you create space to go at your own pace, to learn practices that help support you in the modes of rest and recovery as well as practices that help guide you back out into the light.

In an Art Therapy session, you can see for yourself how the practice of creativity can help you through difficult seasons by:
Calming your nervous system leading to more feelings of ease
Showing you tools for recognizing and being with difficult emotions
Bringing awareness to areas where you’re feeling stuck as well as how to overcome those obstacles
Giving you insight into what’s truly important to you and how to move forward with more trust and confidence in yourself
Here's what clients have said about Art Therapy sessions:
“I like being here. There’s calmness.”
““It all seems so simple now. I didn’t know that kind of peace was possible.”
