Welcome to HeartSpace
To be human is to experience loss.
To experience loss is to know grief.
After working in the hospital setting for close to a decade, some of the big transitions that I specialize in are receiving a medical diagnosis and coping with the full picture of physical and emotional symptoms that come with that. I also work with the experience of grief in all of its forms. So often we think of grief in terms of witnessing the death of a loved one. Yet grief can arise in all stages of life, the transition from school and home to the working world, a big move across country or shift in careers, the end of a relationship, or the loss of health or fertility. All of these experiences can have the same intense effects as the death of a loved one, yet many of them are often dismissed.
That’s where HeartSpace Wellness Studio can help. The practices of art therapy, brainspotting, mindfulness, and yoga can create a safe and supportive space to express, process, and understand the sometimes seemingly insurmountable effects of grief. They can provide a much needed guide to caring for ourselves, reconnecting with others, and ultimately moving through these unimaginable moments feeling less alone.

Lead Art Therapist & Practice Owner

Hi, I'm Catherine. Since 2007, I have been helping deep feelers navigate chronic illness and experiences of grief and loss. For deep feelers, an emotion is not simply a mind experience but a whole body experience. As a result, for deep feelers, words do not often come easily. This is where art and creativity can be a huge help when responding to difficult situations. When words fail, art therapy can show us practical tools for being with these deeply held feelings and ultimately how to listen to the most valuable teacher--yourself--on what you need in times of challenge.
With close to 20 years of professional experience as an Art Therapist, I can guide you in the practices of art therapy, brainspotting, meditation, & yoga to offer creative and mindful ways to calm the nervous system, explore emotions, honor grief and rediscover strength and meaning—especially in times of great change.
It is my wish for you to discover simple and practical ways to care for yourself that reduce suffering and ultimately allow yourself to thrive even within the most difficult of circumstances.
